The Advanced Placement (AP) Program, offered by the College Board, provides high school students with the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high school. AP courses are taught at a faster pace and in more depth than typical high school courses, and students who take AP exams can earn college credit or placement if they score high enough.
The AP test for 2025 will be the first major update to the exam in over a decade. The changes are designed to make the AP test more challenging and to better reflect the college-level curriculum. The new AP test will also be more closely aligned with the Common Core State Standards, which are the educational standards adopted by most states in the United States.
